Rob Lee's Preferred Method for Measuring Draw Length
Rob and Axsel demonstrate how to accurately determine draw length - a number critical to bow performance but often measured incorrectly. At Bob Lee Bows, we discover quite frequently that shooters are using an erroneous number as their draw length, which affects the draw weight (poundage) of the bow. A correct draw length measurement is also an important factor when selecting the overall length of a trad bow to ensure you get full functionality of the limbs. And finally, a true draw length number is needed when choosing arrow specs.

I'm beginning archery and found this information helpful. Thank you for sharing.
How can you set it on a horse bow/instinctive thumb draw bow that has no arrow shelf?
Thanks! Great tutorial!!!!❤
When I see the man in the shop actually making what he's talking about I will definitely listen to what he says.
Your intro was like a sick porno for bow enthusiasts especially with the wailing distorted guitar
Best video on this! Thank you
So cool
Sad you no longer make bows with wood risers.
When it comes to the brace height range, is there any guidance as to where in the range you should look to setup?
What are your reasons for using only 1 nocking point? Are you guys shooting split or 3 under? Going to try this one. I use two nock points but may end up just using the top one, since I am shooting 3 under. I just want a nock point on the bottom that's adjustable and wont wind down the string from shooting. If I use super glue, I might as well tie on a non-adjustable nock point.
Maybe watch the video again and give it a try - it is explained how to properly install so that the nock will stay put - unless, of course, you apply a certain amount of force to deliberately move it. The nock is indeed fully adjustable after installing. Toward the end of the video, you can watch as the nock is twisted up and down to adjust. As for our typical setup, we do create a double nock point for each string that ships with our bows. We only showed the one since we didn't see the need to show the second install. Hope this helps!
When hanging it by the pegs strung is it ok to leave the quiver on with all the arrows in it?
thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thanks JJ, tell Rob Hi from me, Kelly Peterson.
Great videos, straight to the point. Also love the guitar intro.
Would you recomend going slightly lower or higher on the recomended brace height?
Thank you man. Simple and clean
strange they don't make one piece reflex/deflex longbows.
I dream of a bob le recurve someday
very cool...I wish I could have experienced the 50s. Pax Americana

I will get 60" black hunter bow, with 29" of a draw. It had 7.3 - 8" brace height. Didn't check how much draw is for 30lbs power. Is that right size for me? Considering I wil use it for hunting, after I get 40# limbs sometime when I get used on shooting the bow
Thank dude. Your a fing genius. Keep posting, please.

Nice shooting 🎯
I have a old Red Wing Hunter by Head Ski Co. Can you tell me what the brace height is supposed to be? I'm sitting right at 7¾
Just curious if the old colts woods master one piece recurve were produced by Bob Lee, it's what I had been told just wanted to confirm or discredit ? I never could shoot the bow due to heavy draw weight just seeking info, hope all is well
What about if you have a longer then 28 inch draw length? Will it damage the bow ?
Where can you get those at I can find any for sale online?
I have my laminated bow but due to the weather climate codition how to protect from that? And all steel screw are rusty for compound bow. also
good evening J.J.lee I just bought a take down, it arrived 3 days ago, I wanted to buy the bag, I wrote several times but don't answer, do you have bags for a 62 take down? thank you very much
Great video
I just placed my order today 62"@45# Shikari
salve! quindi deve sempre misurare 8
hi but when it is assembled it is left assembled forever thanks Daniele
I will be calling you tomorrow Monday to place a order on a stick bow
Lovely bow, I am in South Africa, how much is a bow like that at 40lb? it is a lovely looking recurve.
Thanks for the lesson!
Im new to bob lee bows, They're beautiful and will be my next bow. Curious though, is the piece that creates the bayonet fitting that attaches to the limb and slides into the riser, is it available in different mass weight material? This would allow barebow like balancing with parts that are integral to the bow (not stuff hung on the outside) thanks
Bruh you showed stringing not restringing maybe fix the title
Unstring is the same steps, just that you pull the top loop off instead of sliding it on. Tip- Try to get used to doing this WITHOUT looking at the limbs. Since the bow is under some tension its safer not to keep the most vulnerable part of your face pointed to the stress point.
Video starts at 0:38.
Just picked up my first vintage recurve, so glad I watched this. Thank you!
This is the ONLY one that has actually worked of all I've tried from many, many youtube videos.
Every bow maker says use the bow stringer, but then every time I've been with a bow maker including of quite a big name company, he strung his bow with his leg. Soo, do people really use their bow stringer?? In the back country?! Bob Lee?
Does your D97 string come with that adjustable nock?
We offer both our "naked" D97 string for $20, and our fully rigged (puffs installed and our adjustable nock) for $40 on our web site. Hope this helps!
That has got to be the best description of how to find a nock point I've ever heard... Thank you for this Video..........
will the draw length chance with the thickness if the riser?
Arguably if the riser was extremely thick, it could but not by any measurable amount. Hope this helps!
I need advice pls. I have a generic 60" recurve bow. My brace height is 10." I know this is too much for any bow. Do I change it by putting on a longer string? The string now is 51." Thank you!!
As a general rule of thumb, the string length should be 4" less than the overall length of the bow. You can contact 3 Rivers Archery and get a Flemish Twist bow string. This will probably make a huge difference for you. Hope this helps.
@@BobLeeBows Great, thank you for the advice! It is the string that came with the bow. Wow, 9' difference. It's a Chinese bow with no details. I wouldn't expect nothing less from China. I would love to get a bowstring from you but unfortunately, I live in Viet Nam. Many thanks again!
